The Periodic Table of Poems
The Periodic Table is a masterpiece of design; the instantly recognizable grid of elements was designed nearly 150 years ago and has long been a graphic icon. These days, you can find it on ties, tables (that's right- periodic table tables), even shoes and shower curtains. Artists, including Damien Hirst, have made use of its design in their work. And now, it is the inspiration for this collection of poetry.
Peter Davern has written 93 short poems that celebrate the chemical elements that make up our Universe. Each poem explores the properties of a different element and is accompanied by a set of explanatory notes.
