Pride 2022

I don’t want to get too heavy, our job here is to sell you funny cards and always have the best suggestions for gifts but to paraphrase Carol Hanish, the personal is also political - so rather than putting together a rainbow coloured collection of products for pride, here’s a list of some of the organisations who are deeply involved in the continued struggle for LGBTQ+ representation that you might consider donating to.

Pride was started as a protest, and while it is also often one hell of a party, it’s important not to lose sight of the origins and be distracted by all the rainbows and glitter. We do reserve the right to decorate the window though.

Trans Equality Network of Ireland
A member-driven organisation with the mission to advance the rights and equality, and improve the lives of trans people and their families, which they achieve through advocacy, education and support.

LGBT Ireland
A national support service for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, and their friends and families. They run a telephone helpline, peer support services, and LGBT awareness training for other services and groups.

A national youth service for young LGBTQ+ people in Ireland aged 14 - 23. They run weekly group meetings where young LGBTQ+ people can meet and socialise with each other in a safe and supportive environment. They also work with young LGBTQ+ refugees seeking asylum in Ireland.
