In 1971, Jack Fitzsimons took it upon himself to change the face of affordable housing in Ireland. With help from his wife, he collated 20 simple designs that people could use to build their own homes. He printed his collection locally, and drove around the country selling it to garages, newsagents and local shops out of the boot of his car. Over the next 30 years, Fitzsimons' collection - called Bungalow Bliss - grew. The final edition had over 200 affordable, simple designs. Over a quarter of a million copies of the collection sold, dotting gorgeous and practical bungalows across the Irish landscape forever.

In this captivating book, Author and structural engineer Adrian Duncan here examines the cultural impact of Fitzsimons work - on the housing market, on architectural style, and most touchingly, on the families who built and lived in these homes.
