The Ketogenic Kitchen

What is it?
The ketogenic diet is a high fat, adequate protein and low carbohydrate diet which was used originally in medicine as a treatment for difficult-to-control epilepsy in children. The diet works by forcing the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates. Developed in the 1920s originally, the ketogenic diet has seen its most exciting developments in the last decade, when this way of eating, the keto-lifestyle, has been shown to be beneficial in the management and treatment of illness, particularly cancer, which both the authors of this book have had, twice.
As Georgia Ede, MD, Psychiatrist and Nutrition Consultant tells us in the foreword "Patricia Daly and Domini Kemp have written an authoritative guide that will help you put the powerful science of ketogenic principles to work in your daily life. Their hard-earned wisdom coupled with their culinary expertise set this book apart from other health-orientated cook books. For issues ranging from mental health disorders to diabetes to cancer, The Ketogenic Kitchen will be indispensable to those seeking to incorporate a powerful, science-based nutritional approach into their comprehensive treatment plan."
Even if you're not following the diet, this is a beautiful book filled with delicious every-day recipes that you'll actually use. And the beautiful photography by Joanne Murphy is just mouth-watering. An excellent read and an excellent gift.
