Women & Power - A Manifesto
A manifesto by Mary Beard that traces the treatment of women in power dating back to Roman & Greek times. The book begins with Penelope of Ithaca (who married Odysseus) and moves through history, from Medusa to Teresa May, examining the relationship between the voice of women and the public sphere and exploring the underpinnings of misogyny and cultural associations of women in power. Mary Beard is one of England's best known academics and classicists; Professor of Classics at Cambridge, author of over 15 books and committed feminist.
