Dúinn Designs - Designer Profile
Dúinn Designs is a new range of textiles inspired by Irish myths, history and landmarks.
Bernadette McCullagh, a textile designer based in Louth, was inspired one day when her daughter came home talking about the Bull of Cooley. She was so excited by the story she began to reread the old Irish legends and myths. Bernadette did an illustration of the bull, which led to a pattern that became the beginning of Dúinn Designs.
The range expanded to include Ireland's most famous landmarks. From Trinity's arches to Skelligs Island, Dúinn Designs focus on creating modern designs that celebrate Ireland's history in a contemporary way. So far, Bernadette's products include tea towels, silk neckerchiefs and silk scarves.
After a visit to Kilmainham Gaol, Bernadette wanted to create an elegant design that would capture the minimalist architecture of the prison, focusing on the arches and curves to fuse new and old.The Giant's Causeway is another of our internationally celebrated heritage-sites, known for its striking basalt columns. Bernadette designed a pattern that would reflect the natural beauty of the hexagonal forms.
Bernadette's beautiful designs are available in store and online!
