Introducing: Bini bowls...

Better than your average lunchbox.......

So who are they?

Founded by Perrine and Alice in 2021 with the intention of preserving the pleasure of eating, enhancing takeaway meals, and eliminating disposable dishes for all outdoor eaters. They were tired of the amount of waste being generated by takeaway foods, and enthused by the idea of cutting down on domestic waste by bringing their own lunches with them.

What are they made of?

Given these lofty ideals, they had to ensure that the materials used were as eco-friendly as possible. The bowls and cutlery are made from wood pulp and eco polymers made from reused oil from restaurants and are manufactured in France by an ESAT - a social enterprise that helps people with learning disabilities live independently.

The products are designed by Margaux Keller, a French designer who aims to evoke emotion and memory through her designs, without compromising on practicality. Achieving this in a lunch box is quite the challenge as the French have retained the habit of both taking a proper lunch break and sitting down to enjoy their meals. Convincing them that eating out of any kind of box is a pleasurable experience is a tricky thing to do, but I think they have achieved it. The Cutlery is really nice to use - the serrated edge on the knife means that it actually cuts things and the shape of the spoon is both unique and highly functional. The lid on the bowl clips on with a satisfying snap that convinces you it’s unlikely to leak and once it is taken off it looks just like a lovely bowl, rather than a plastic box.
