Things to do on Sunday for Mother's Day

Things to do on Sunday for Mother's Day

Pancakes! It's the one day in the year that you really have to spoil your mam, and the one day she might even let you! What better way to start a day of pampering than with a special breakfast. We went pancake crazy a few weeks ago and were so inspired by our lovely range of cookbooks that we're still treating ourselves to these tasty divils from The Currabinny Cookbook! Check out our blog for some inspiration here.

Shopping! Fingers crossed we're in for a sunny Sunday, perfect for a stroll around our fair city and some retail therapy (extra brownie points if you can manage to beat your mam to the till and treat her to something that catches her eye.) The creative quarter is a great place to get something special. We love the new range of homeware in Article, the incredible selection of books and prints in Hen's Teeth and the fantastic Irish made treasures in the Irish Design Shop. And of course pop into us here in designist, we have some great new products in store and we'll be open 12 - 6 pm.

Gallery! We're spoilt for choice with art galleries here in Dublin. There's a new print exhibition in the National Gallery, Lucian Freud at Imma, and Francis Bacon in the Hugh Lane to name but a few. And Eamonn Doyle's exhibition at the RHA is definately one not to miss, his street photography is a thrill to the system, revealing the extraordinary within the ordinary to paint a striking portrait of a Dublin city.

Eat more! If you didn't book a lunch, Eat Yard is a great option. It re-opened this month with a fresh line up of street food vendors, open Sunday from 12-10pm. For a little treat try the Milk Bar Ice-Cream Truck that serves Black Vanilla and 24 karat gold soft serve and is insanely good. And The Venezuelan team behind Sweet Churro - crispy churros dipped in hot chocolate - yummers!

Whatever you do this weekend we hope you have a lovely time with your mam and get a chance to spoil her rotten, sure she deserves it! If you are in need of some gifts-piration here's some of our recommendations here. And if you haven't got a card yet, we have some really great new designs this year guaranteed to get a giggle! You can order here and collect it in store. We're open from 12-6pm on Sunday so pop in if you're in the neighbourhood.
