It's our Birthday! Let's Cell-e-brate!

Using the most advanced science and mathematics, we have been able to calculate that we are - one year old! Yes, we have made a full revolution around the sun and we have had one hell of a ride! We want to share some of our highlights of our first year here in Science Gallery.

Sound Check 2017Sound Check 2017Sound Check 2017Sound Check 2017

We opened our doors just after the launch of the fantastic exhibition SOUNDCHECK - this was a noisy cacophony that made your hair stand on end and your stomach vibrate.

Our DIY Speaker Kit allowed you to take some of the exhibition's interactive experience home with you. This clever kit lets you turn a box, a balloon, a bike (any object you like!) into your own portable speaker.

In Case of Emergency 2017In Case of Emergency 2017

October saw the launch of IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, a show about disasters and collapses and how we might react to apocalyptic scenarios the future may throw our way. One of our favourite products inspired by this exhibition was the Waka Waka range of Power Banks.

The solar-powered light and charger is especially impressive - with an integrated solar panel you can charge your charger with the power of the sun! Great for hikes or camping trips, or the zombie apocalypse.

Oliver Jeffers launched his book Here We Are in November - we are massive fans of Oliver and it was very exciting to meet him and get our book signed! Here We Are is the perfect introduction to living on Planet Earth, especially for those who are newly arrived. From land and sky, to people and time, the book explores what makes the world and how we live in it.

Fake 2018

In February, the Beast from the East crashed our real launch so we celebrated the opening of FAKE with an authorised replica event, THIS IS NOT OUR LAUNCH PARTY! From Fake News to Phoney Faux-pas to Cool Copies - this exhibition really inspired us and made us think about what's real and what's not.

And one of our products got a reaction like no other, our anatomically correct Chocolate Human Hearts (gasps of horror and shrieks of delight) it was a bit of a Marmite reaction but we loved them so much they are here to stay! Not for the faint hearted, these are the ultimate gift for cardiologists, pathologists, embalmers, or your sweetheart.

If you haven't been to see the current exhibition LIFE AT THE EDGES, make sure you don't miss it - this is a fantastic show! Exploring life in extraordinary environments, and humankind's passion for exploration, adventure and discovery.

Life at the Edges 2018Astronaut Food

There's a fantastic reconstruction of an astronauts living space and a space suit designed for a mission to Mars. And in the shop we even have actual Astronaut food! Since the early Mercury Missions freeze-dried food has been used aboard space missions and is still used on NASA missions today. We have a delicious selection of fruits and ice creams, which taste just like the real thing, Yum!

To celebrate our birthday we're going to give YOU a treat! We know, we're spoiling you. Just come into our shop tomorrow and wish us a Happy Birthday and we will give you 15% off your purchases. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers and the deadly crew down here at Science Gallery Dublin, you've made this nerdy Trinity fresher feel massively welcomed!
