Liffey Bridges Dublin Tea Towel
€13.00This graphic Liffey Bridges Tea Towel was designed by Clover Rua, It features six iconic Dublin bridges. The Ha'penny Bridge was Dublin's first toll bridge, built in 1816 to replace barges that ferried people from one side to the other. Dubliners were charged to use it to cross for the first 100 years of its existence. Grattan Bridge, whose current incarnation was built by the amazingly named Bindon Blood Stoney, who is also responsible for O'Connell Bridge and the North Bull lighthouse, as well as inventing the diving bell. The James Joyce Bridge, named for the author, and built in 2003, scenes of it being driven down the quays ahead of installation made the nationwide news. One of Joyce's stories - The Dead - was set in nearby 15 Ushers Island. O'Connell Bridge, originally designed by James Gandon and called Carlisle Bridge, the current version was redesigned and renamed in 1882, and is unusual as it is wider than it is long, with a span of 45m and a width of 50m. Rory O'Moore Bridge, formerly the Victoria & Albert bridge it was renamed for Rory O'Moore, a central figure in the Irish rebellion of 1641. Samuel Beckett Bridge is the most recent addition to Dublin's bridges and was designed by Santiago Calatrava , who also designed the James Joyce Bridge. It's designed to echo a harp on its side and can be opened to allow large ships to pass upstream. The strings of the harp can be lit up using low-energy LED in various colours to display images or messages. The Loopline Bridge for the Dart, built in 1891, was very controversial at the time as it blocked the view of the Custom House; it was deemed necessary to allow transatlantic mail to be delivered from both Cobh and Dun Laoghaire ports. Love Dublin gifts ? We have loads of those, and we also have loads of new home gifts What's it made of? Screen-printed on 100% natural cotton using environmentally friendly inks. How does it come? Tied with a red ribbon with a label. Tea towel 48 x 76cm approx -
Lucky Shamrock Keyring
€7.50This handsome green shamrock keyring emblazoned with Lucky may not, in fact, bring you luck, but it probably won't harm your chances either. After 800 years of colonization and a famine/genocide, how the Irish got a reputation for being lucky kind of beats me. We do have a pretty unique relationship with luck, though, which might be a result of all this trauma. When things are going our way, we tend not to question things too closely. We just run with it, in case, as it inevitably does, the luck runs out. And when things don't go your way, it's not your fault, it's just that luck wasn't with you. Made in Belfast by Born and Bred . We have loads of Dublin-themed gifts if that's what you are after. How does it come? As is. Enamel keyring is approx. 3 x 3.5 cm. -
Feck Ewe Magnet
€6.50A little bit of irreverence for your fridge, that makes the perfect souvenir of a trip to Ireland. While we might not have as many sheep as New Zealand, where they outnumber people 4 to 1, there are still over 4 million sheep in Ireland, so if you spend any time travelling around, you're bound to encounter quite a few of them. This happy little fellow is emblazoned with the words feck ewe, which I can't help hearing in a slightly bleating voice in my head. While it can seem like a very rude thing to say feck means either to steal or throw away, and is often used as a term of defeat - feck you anyway - when you admit someone has the better of you. Made in Belfast by Born and Bred . We have loads of Dublin-themed gifts if that's what you are after. How does it come? As is. Magnet is approx 8 x 5.5. -

Cheese Board and Mouse Knives
€37.00Three blind mice... well okay they may not be blind, but maybe if the farmer's wife had these she would have found them very useful instead of wanting to cut off any tails... This set of three cheese knives is made from rubberwood and stainless steel. They come with a rubberwood cheese board, which is sturdy and just the right size to fit a host of cheeses to feast on. The mouse knives make a great talking point, and with each one is designed for different types of cheese they're great to use as well. The almond-shaped knife is perfect for scoring the rind of hard cheese, opening wheels, dividing wedges, and chunking cheeses into bite sizes, a classic all-purpose knife. The flat cheese knife is most often used for cutting crumbly soft cheese or shaving chipping and cubing firm cheese. The cheese fork is ideal for holding a block of cheese in place while you cut or slice with a knife or for breaking hard, aged cheeses & softer, crumbly cheeses. Rubberwood is strong, flexible, resistant to fungus, bacteria, and mold, and is considered very sustainable as the trees are only chopped down once they have stopped producing latex. Since 1992, Kikkerland Design has established itself as one of the top companies in the world offering unique, inspiring, well-designed products.
