Hegarty on Advertising
This updated version of the classic Hegarty on Advertising discusses how John Hegarty's career coincided with the rise of the advertising agency. With lots of insights into what makes compelling ads, creativity, and the importance of storytelling, it's a very engaging read, full of useful anecdotes on the business of selling something. While I can't say I fully agree with his standpoints in some areas, and he very much shows himself to be a man of his generation and there is lots to be gleaned from it.
When this book was originally published in 2011, advertising was an important facet to the world but brand building was still something mostly only considered by businesses, rather than the current state of affairs where we all have our own personal brands. This change in society makes this memoir on the rise of advertising essential reading for everyone.
