Plastic is a problem.

We've all seen the images of plastic waste in our oceans and on our shorelines. In a perfect world we would be able to eliminate plastic completely from our lives and find new alternatives. And there is hope - many companies around the world are working very hard at this. Turning all sorts of plant matter and other bio and eco-sustainable materials into bio-plastics and plastic alternatives. And while this is absolutely the way to go, it doesn't address the ever present problem of what to do with the plastic waste already produced.

This is where HIP step in. They work with a charity called Healthy Harbour and for every purchase that is made of one of their relevant products, they fund the removal of single-use bottles from local waterways in communities without domestic recycling facilities, before they become ocean plastic.

And as a well-known brand, they have clout and this matters. Being accessible and available allows people to make positive consumer choices - such as opting for recycled plastic over virgin.
