What do we talk about when we talk about Irish? Craic Baby is a fascinating look at our native tongue by the author of the bestselling Motherfoclóir, Darach Ó Séaghdha. As his young daughter learns to communicate, Ó Séaghdha ponders new and old aspects of the Irish language with wit and humour. A must for any lover of language and etymology.
We all know we need to stop consuming so much. A big part of this involves looking after the things we own, mending them when they break. Form Card plastic and Sugru are a key part of this process. Both are game changing ideas that allow you to fix, re-stick and even create the things you need and love. The uses are endless. Sugru is a moldable glue, malleable like play-dough which you mould to any shape you need then it sets hard in 30 minutes. Use it to fix a favourite vase that got smashed, broken eyeglasses, handles, sticking a potted plant to your window… Forbes calls it 21st Century duct tape. Form Card is a bioplastic that comes in many cool colours which you can soften in a glass of hot water then use to make the things you need – a holder for your phone, a cover for your paint brush, a spoon to eat your soup with when camping. The list is endless and best of all it’s reusable. Really! Both these products have amazing websites with how-to guides and lots of inspiration. They are very keenly priced so you can have some on standby for your next fixing emergency without breaking the bank.
We are delighted to announce that we’ll be hosting an olive oil tasting event with Sarah & Olive next Wednesday September 4th at 6.30pm. All gorgeously packaged, they taste amazing and seem to make just about everything taste better. We need to stop using so many disposable cups and having your own cup handy when you’re out and about is the solution. These are Stojo, ingenious collapsible pocket cups that are super easy to store and carry around. At a tidy 5 cm when collapsed, they can even fit in your pocket! How handy is that?
