Meet the Maker: Sam Agus Nessa

Once upon a time in a far-off land, a boy called Sam agus a girl called Nessa, loved to drink tea and make things. One day, after sharing a big mug of tea, Sam agus Nessa decided to make things together.

Nessa was a pragmatic maker, who liked to design simple functional pieces whereas Sam liked bright agus colourful things taking inspiration from fluffy clouds agus wood grains glowing in the evening sunlight, the everyday delights of shape and form.

The collaboration worked brilliantly. In 2016 they decided to pack up their tool boxes agus Dude the cat and set sail home to Ireland where they set up the award winning Irish company Sam agus Nessa.

They are inspired by the Irish vernacular agus observing the world around them, they design and make expressive, functional furniture agus home ware products, from locally sourced Irish timber. Each piece is made by hand in their workshop and is designed to be practical but most importantly to make you smile.

Sam, Nessa agus Dude the cat are currently living happily ever after.

Well that is it folks! Thank you, and and every one of you lovely people who entered! We received over 100 responses which Laura is now going to go through and compile, ready for Lucy to pick her top five from. Keep an eye out, we will be posting these in the next little while, ready for you all to vote on!

And we are back in store processing your orders, yeahy! After a fair bit of thinking, planning and organising, we have found a safe way to ensure we can now process orders twice a week. We want to give a huge shout out to each and every one of you who ordered from us over the last few weeks - thank you for your support! Seriously, you lot are the best. We are working through all of these and hope to have them all on their way to you by next week. For all new orders moving forward, please allow approx. 10 days for delivery (within Ireland) just to be safe, as things are still a bit slower than usual.

It’s a book! It’s a light; no, it’s a book light! 🌞🌞🌞 These are some favourites of ours here at Designist. These slim, wooden ‘books’ open up into pretty spectacular lights, perfect for evenings curled up with a good book. The covers are magnetised so you can open them all the way around. They are charged with a usb cable and last a good 5-6 hours per charge. Perfect for lighting up corners without any plug sockets, and adding a bit of delicate soft light to your room. Another favourite here are the flip alarm clocks. These clever clocks turn their led display off when it is quiet, allowing you to have a technology free sleep at night. Perfect for a good snooze.

Goodness me; we are loving all your food-tastic posts of late. It has inspired us to dig out the cookbooks and see what we can come up with

Feels today.

There are some great distractions here for little (and not so little) humans. We love these books, not only are the illustrations beautiful, they are filled with hands on experiments and really interesting stuff. Science class was never so fun

Squeeze the last few spoonfuls out of that jar with the fantastic mini supoon. Made from silicone they are also heat resistant so you can use them in the frying pan and are dishwasher safe. Their little size also makes them great for little hands that love baking and cooking. Genius.
