Sheelas, Mammies and and some lovely gifts

Love how these floating plant hangers let us bring extra greenery into the shop. We have them at home too and with this rotten weather they're great for getting a bit of garden into the house. 🌱🌿🌼

Event Alert! @nessafinnegan is the designer behind some of our all time best sellers (the much loved fear mna totes, cailin maith patches and sheela na gig tea towels) is coming to designist on March 11th for a very special event. Nessa will spend the evening chatting about her work, drawing sheela na gigs on our windows (woop!!). Come along and meet the artist at work and enjoy a glass of sparkly with us. From 5.30pm on the 11th March. See you there!!!

This one from @robertamurray is guaranteed to make her smile.

We had a brilliant evening with @nessafinnegan last night. Our windows are now beautifully decorated with Sile na Gigs so do check them out if you're around town today.

What a day it’s been! We’re going to be closing at 6.30pm this evening to give our staff time to organise their lives for the next couple of weeks. But not to worry, we’ll be open as usual from tomorrow and have plenty of remarkable gifts and bright ideas in store and online to help you spoil your Mammy this Mother’s Day! For those of you who can’t pop in to say hello, do keep in mind that we offer next-day delivery, a free gift wrapping service and we can even handwrite your cards for you! Check out our selection of the very best of Irish design 🥰

We have picked out some of our favourite creative activities to keep you (& your kids) amused and engaged. 🌈 . Our DIY Boardgame Making Kit is a great project to work on with kids. Every part of this kit is blank, so you can design your game based on your favourite story or TV show - or anything your imagination can dream up. . We LOVE Rory’s Story Cubes. Roll the cubes and build a story that links up all the images. These were originally developed as a creative problem-solving tool and they make a really fun game to play together, creating infinite characters and adventures. There is no wrong answer! . Binabo are colourful, buildable pieces made from sugar and wood which can be used to make anything from footballs and frisbees to abstract shapes, animals, pirate ships, a mini Eiffel Tower... Reusable and sturdy 👍 . Remember, as always everything is available on our website. We offer next-day delivery, free gift wrapping & can handwrite your cards for you ♥️

Mother’s Day is coming up on 22nd March and we know you’re on the lookout for that perfect card to give your mammy a giggle. . We love collaborating with designers - all of the cards pictured have been designed by artists based in Dublin, and they are printed here, too. We pack our cards in biodegradable starch sleeves and our envelopes are made from recycled maps! . We know that you’ve got a lot going on at the moment, so as always you can order to collect in store or we can post it out to you - we’ll even write a personalised note for you! All of these cards can be found on our website and instore.

It’s springtime, and a great time to slow down, take stock and get gardening. You don’t even need a big garden! 🌿 . From Tiny Seeds is a beautifully illustrated book, written in a fairytale style, which tells the adventures of how different seeds travel and grow. . Paper Pot Maker makes a limitless supply of seedling pots - all you need are old newspapers! Fun and easy to use. . Grow your own wildflower garden with this set from Sophie Conran, which includes Foxglove and Cornflower, which the bees love. . Seedballs make an excellent gift for non-expert gardeners, wildlife lovers and children. Just scatter on a bare patch of soil and the seedball will provide everything a plant needs. They even have chilli powder 🌶 which stops the birdies eating them. . We’re still ticking away here at designist. Why not visit our website and have a look? We can post your order internationally if you need, and also offer free gift wrapping 🎁 and we’ll write your cards for you.

Smaoineamh íontach foinne aon mammies i do shaol, ní amháin do cheann féin! Slí deas ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar Lá na Máithreacha agus Seachtain na Gaeilge ag an ám céanna. . . Translation: A lovely thought for any mammies in your life, not just your own. Celebrate Mother’s Day and Irish Language Week at the same time! . ‘Is Brea Liom Mo Mham’ = I love my Mam . ‘Mo Mháthair Grámhar’ = My Loving Mother . We offer international delivery and can hand write a personalised note in your card. Also a sneaky reminder that gift wrap is complimentary on all orders, just let us know. ♥️

“It is not enough that we build products that function, that are understandable and usable, we also need to build products that bring joy and excitement, pleasure and fun, and, yes, beauty to people’s lives.”
