wow, what a week that was!

So, it’s been quite the 10 days. On 6th of March I disappeared off to have a baby, safe and secure that I had a wonderful team in place who could deal with almost anything in my absence, and boy have they had to! Having talked to them all today, we’ve come to the collective decision that we will only operate online for the foreseeable future. This allows us to respect social distancing rules, keep our staff safe, but also keep them employed. Thankfully our staff live locally and don’t have to take public transport to work. What this means is that the shop will be (wo)manned from 10-6.30 Monday - Saturday, and from 12-5.30 on Sundays, but we won’t be open to the public. You can order online for immediate collection in store (we’ll bring your lovely stuff to the door for you), or for delivery. As always, we can gift wrap any presents and hand write your greetings cards for you. We’ve put up a nifty new doorbell at our front door so you can get our attention when you need to. The shop in Science Gallery is closed until March 29th at least, but we have all the stock in George’s Street so we can fulfill all your science needs! We’ve extended the free shipping offer on our website until the end of March, just use the code HELLOBABY. Oh, it’s a boy, and he’s the most delicious thing in the world.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! We may have closed the doors for the next little while but we are still open for business online. Order via designist.ie and we will post it off to you with free national shipping (excl priority) with code HELLOBABY or if your in the area you can still collect in store. Just press the new bell on the door and we will be right out to you. So regardless of whether you are seeing her or not this weekend you can be sure that da mammy’s gift is all wrapped and posted. Sorted.

You guys are the best, did you know that? Thank you all you deliciously wonderful, supportive people. Did you know we literally do a happy dance every time an order comes through? Hazel, our web order processor extraordinaire has been working super hard all day to make sure all your orders are sent off super speedily. Thank you for supporting local, independent Irish businesses such as Designist. And remember from now till the end of March we are giving you folks free standard shipping on all orders with the code HELLOBABY 🕺🕺🕺

Did you know that we stock a *massive* range cards? Ah yes ok you probably do know that - but did you know that the vast majority of these are Irish designed, printed here in Dublin and packaged in store by our own fair hands? There ya go now - another fab reason to grab a card now for the mammy. Order for collection to pick it up from the shop the same day, or free regular national postage with the code HELLOBABY if posting is more your thing. Oh and we will write your message for ya if you want it sent straight to the Ma. Done. One happy mum!

And breathe. These oil diffusers by the fantabulous @thenatureofthings.ie are the perfect way to infuse your home with calming smells. Made with eco-friendly bamboo, you can set them to infuse your home for up to 20 hours. So shut the door, sit down with a book and relax (p.s. don’t forget to wash your hands!). If your still short of a gift for Mother’s Day remember that any order placed for collection will be processed at breakneck speed so it can be ready for you to collect at our shop on South Great George’s Street between 10-6.30 today and tomorrow (that’s Friday and Saturday folks) or 12-5.30pm on Sunday. Go on, spoilt the mammy.

The door might be locked, the scaffolding still up but we still have a fantastic window thanks to Laura. Laura’s childhood dream was to be the artist who drew Christmas murals on shop windows. And now she has a whole window to play with. Building up the window display is probably her most fav. part of her job along with having the chats with all the customers. And while there will be a few less chats (in person at least) for the next while, we do still have a window. So if your in town have a peek. Laura will make sure it is jammers full of lovely designist stuff. (Ps we also have buckets of remarkable gifts for the mammy which you can still order for collection so you can get it on time for tomorrow. Be nice to your mammy).

To all the humans out there celebrating Mother’s Day and wishing they could hug their nearest and dearest. You’re tea-rrific so you are.
