The Sackville Street Caper - Molly Malone & Bram Stoker
This entertaining caper features Bram Stoker, writer & adventurer, and Molly Malone part part-time fishmonger and full-time sneak thief. When Bram runs away from Boarding school, he bumps into Molly and her gang of Sackville Street Spooks. Together, they attempt to foil a dastardly plan to steal the Irish Crown Jewels.
While this particular encounter might not have happened exactly as written, Alan Nolan really brings Victorian Dublin to life, and shows you just how much has changed and how much has stayed the same. The story clips along at a brilliant pace and is peppered with fun details like a map of Dublin, wanted posters, historical figures, and Victorian slang.
It's a great book to encourage young readers with a sense of adventure that helps bring Dublin history to life.
